IRB Crew / Driver Course

Get Involved in IRB's

SLSNT is running an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Driver & Crew course in November 2017. Participants who successfully complete the course will be able to crew / drive the club IRB's, a vital piece of lifesaving equipment.

The cost to attend this course has been discounted, thanks to funding received from the Federal Government.

IRB Training Program

Location: Surf Life Saving Northern Territory & Casuarina Beach

  • Saturday 11 November, SLSNT Surf House (Nightcliff) 10 - 2pm
  • Sunday 12 November, Casuarina Beach 9am - 1pm
  • Saturday 2 November, Casuarina Beach 9am - 1pm
  • Sunday 26 November, Casuarina Beach 9am - 1pm

*participants must be available to attend all scheduled sessions to gain qualification*

Eligibility requirements

IRB crew

  • Hold a current Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion
  • Be at least 15 years of age
  • Be physically able to participate in activities that require jumping, lifting, swimming and running.

Upon successful completion of the IRB crew certificate you will be issued with the national unit of competency:

  • PUASAR015A Crew small powercraft in a rescue operation
  • Surf Life Saving IRB Crew Certificate

IRB Driver

  • Hold a current Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion
  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Hold a current Surf Life Saving IRB Crew Certificate
  • Be physically able to participate in activities that require jumping, lifting, swimming and running.

Upon successful completion of the IRB Driver certificate you will be issued with the national units of competency:

  • PUAEQU001B Prepare, maintain and test response equipment
  • PUASAR014A Operate and maintain a small powercraft and motor for rescue operations
  • Surf Life Saving IRB Driver Certificate
