Safeguarding Children Training

Saturday 20 May @ 1.00 - 3.30pm
Venue: SLSNT Office, 62 Aralia Street Nightcliff

SLSNT invites all members to attend this session, especially those already involved with juniors, or likely to be involved with juniors.

SLSA has recently updated our Member Protection Policy to ensure the safety of children in our movement.

To help members understand their role in safeguarding young members, Taleah Neowhouse, SLSA's National Participation Manager will be in Darwin to run a Safeguarding Children Training Program.

Attendees will have the ability to run future sessions for their clubs but this is not a requirement of attending - it is about raising awareness and the more that attend the better.

The aim of the Safeguarding Children Training Program is to provide participants engaged with SLS with:

  • An awareness of child abuse and child protection;
  • An understanding of their specific obligations under SLSA Member Protection Policy; and
  • The confidence to be able to take appropriate action when they become concerned for the safety of a child.

People undertaking the workshop will be up-skilled with all the information, resources and confidences to on-deliver the program to the wider SLS community within the NT.

The program comprises of 4 modules. Participants will receive a Facilitators Guide and Resources, Slide Presentation and Participants Handbook.
