Training Officers are a key part of our organisation and ensure our surf lifesavers have the latest skills and knowledge by delivering lifesaving awards to members.
The responsibility of a Training Officer is to facilitate training programs which motivate learners and enable them to achieve identified surf lifesaving awards.
Surf Life Saving NT is running a Training Officer Skill Set Program (Program), which will deliver 2 units of competency from the TAE10 Training Package. These units are required for anyone interested in becoming an Training Officer for their surf life saving club.
The Program will run as a workshop across one weekend.
Attendance in the Program is suitable for current Training Officers (as professional development) or members aspiring to become an accredited SLSC Training Officer.
- Current training officers holding previous TAA Assessment units,
- Current training officers holding TAE Assessment units and haven’t undertaken any Professional Development in the VET Sector (A PD certificate will be provided),
- New to the VET Sector wanting to assessor nationally recognised training.
To gain this qualification you must be:
- a minimum of 17 years old on first day of Program,
- available and committed to attending full 2-day workshop.
Current Member of an NT Surf Life Saving Club - $20
When & Where:
All workshops will be held at Surf House, 62 Aralia Street in Nightcliff.

Required commitment outside the workshop hours:
You will be required to undertake additional learning and assessment activities in your own time as the workshop will not include assessment activities. As people learn differently you may need to read additional materials to assist you in developing your knowledge.
You will have access to the nominated trainer Sharon Stewart following the workshop to assist you in your learning and assessment activities.
Attendees may also wish to gain their Assessors qualification (further training program) and complete the additional 5 units to complete your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
