We've got a bumper three week holiday program for children, teenagers families and even big, big kids aka 'adults' across Darwin's water parks and at Lake Alexander at East Point Reserve. Check out the below details for the epic program happening this dry season school holiday break in Darwin!

Our first week of the holiday program begins Monday the 28th of June with AFL NT playing games and ball skills with kids all ages at Leanyer Recreation Park. In the afternoon from 1pm our SLSNT life guards will have water play floatation devices out in the lagoon pool for all ages to enjoy.
Tuesday we have The Artful Room's Art Educator Carla Russo offering free watercolour sunset painting workshops for ages 5 to 12 years at the Palmerston Water Park function room at 10am and 11am before heading to Leanyer Recreation Park function room for 2pm and 3pm sessions. Participants must have a parent or guardian sign them in prior to participating. Spaces are limited so please arrive early to reserve a place. All materials are provided, each class is 55 minutes in length.
Wednesday the 30th of June the first of our two Movie Nights in the parks will be happening at Palmerston Water Park with the screening of 'Coco' [PG] . The movie begins at 7pm, please arrive a little earlier to find a place on the lawns. The slides will remain open until 8:30pm or at the discretion of the lifeguards and parks staff on duty. Ice Age Ice Creams will be serving refreshments and treats and Katja's will be serving up delicious freshly made popcorn.
On Thursday for Territory Day our lifeguards will be on duty at Mindil beach from 2pm before the official Territory Day public celebration event kicks off at 4pm.
Friday begins with Surf & Sail at the Darwin Waterfront Rec Lagoon. Darwin Sailing Club and SLSNT join powers to guide kids in the introduction to Nippers surf ski and junior sailing. Please arrive early to register and sign your children in before activities begin. That afternoon head to Leanyer Skate Park for the first of our Skate sessions happening over the three weeks. They start at 4pm and are free to participate. Hosted by Build Up Skateboarding NT, these sessions include lesson and guidance to beginner and intermediate level skaters. Equipment provided on the day. Like everything in our holiday program these activities are free to the public!
Week 2 the action and fun continues with free netball skills and games with Netball NT at Palmerston Water Park form 11am for 5yrs +. From 1pm at Leanyer Recreation Park lifeguards will have a range of fun floatation devices in the lagoon pool for the kids and families to enjoy while they cool off.
Tuesday at Palmerston Water Park Hyper the Clown will be on the lawn entertaining kids and parents with balloons and magic tricks. In the afternoon Darwin Skate School will be at Leanyer Recreation Park Skate Park delivering skate ramp lessons. Participants must bring their own roller skates and must be able to skate the basics to participate. This activity is recommended for ages 10 years +.
Wednesday the 7th of July see the second our our Movie Snacks & Slides events happening at Leanyer Recreation Park from 7pm with the screening of 'Incredibles 2' [PG]. Ice Age Ice Creams and Katja's Popcorn will also be onsite to serve up delicious treats and refreshments throughout the evening. Water slides will remain open until 8:30pm or at the discretion of the lifeguards and parks staff on duty.
Thursday includes Tip Top Circus Entertainment at Leanyer Recreation Park with Circus Playspace & Giant Bubbles from 11am to 1pm. From 5 to 9pm PaRBA with MAD Events will be running a 3 on 3 Basketball competition at the Leanyer Rec Park Basketball Court in the lead up to the NT 3 on 3 Championships on the 14th of July. Winners of this heat event will have the $200 entry fee to the NT championships on the 14th paid for by PaRBA! Food and music will compliment this fun evening basketball event, don't miss it!
Friday's activities in week 2 of the program finish with Netball NT visiting Palmerston Water Park from 12pm - 2pm with fun netball games and activities for ages 5yrs +. The second of the skate boarding sessions with Build Up Skateboarding NT will kick of at Palmerston Water Park Skate Park from 4pm. Palmerston YMCA's Palmerston Youth Centre will be running a free BBQ for all participants so come along and work on honing or developing those skateboarding skills.
The final week of the holiday program rolls out with SLSNT water play at the Leanyer Recreation Park pool lagoon from 1pm. Our SLSNT life guards will have water play floatation devices out in the lagoon pool for all ages to enjoy.
Tuesday the 13th of July the fun and action continues with the return of Darwin Skate School for their second learn to roller skate ramps session, this time at Palmerston Skate Park from 4-6pm. Participants must bring their own roller skates and must be able to skate the basics to participate. This activity is recommended for ages 10 years +.
Wednesday the 14th is another huge day of fun at Leanyer Recreation Park from 11am with NRL Touch Football NT running fun touch footy games and activities on the lawn for kids with energy to spare! Followed by one of our main new events at 2pm with a massive Pool Party in the pool lagoon! DJ Sonix will be playing tunes poolside from 2-6pm. Why not grab a Curled Ice Cream or Spiral Spud from either stall in the park to keep the hunger at bay between swims and slides? We'll also have plenty of beach balls and other games on offer in the water for the duration of the pool party. Don't miss this event, it's going to be magic!
Thursday begins the same as the day before with NRL touch football action for all ages at Leanyer Recreation Park from 11am to 1pm. Hyper the Clown will re visit Palmerston Water Park for two hours from 11am.
Friday the 16th is the final day of the three week program and what a day to finish! Surf & Sail returns to Lake Alexander from 10am to 12pm where ages 5 - 12 years can try Nippers surf sports or for 6 years and up participants can sign up to Darwin Sailing Club's junior sailing activity. The final event to round out the holiday schedule is SK8 & Tunes, an all ages all disciplines skate jam at Leanyer Skate Park complimented by live up and coming young bands Monsoon, Bush Lawyers, Danger Den and Kathryn and the Overbytes performing from the half pipe. PHL the beat dance crew will perform a high energy series of hip hop dance moves that is sure to please the crowd on the evening.
