Founded in 1996 as the Arafura Life Saving Club, which originally patrolled the open water areas of East Point and the adjacent Lake Alexander. The Arafura LSC briefly moved operations to Cullen Bay before settling at the popular Mindil Beach on the southern end of Fannie Bay. The club officially changed its name to Mindil Beach Surf Life Saving Club on 14 March 2008.
Today, the club operates out of a shed at Lake Alexander, East Point and provides patrols at East Point Beach and Lake Alexander during the Dry Season (June -September).
