Member Protection

Safe, fair and inclusive Surf Life Saving

Surf Life Saving NT is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of all members. We want surf lifesaving to be fun, enjoyable and safe for everyone - and that means taking member protection seriously.

Member protection covers the practices we put in place to protect members from discrimination, harassment, abuse and other inappropriate behaviour. It allows everyone to take part in a positive and safe environment.

SLSNT adopts and enforces the SLSA Member Protection Policy, which sets out our commitment to ensuring every person involved in surf lifesaving is treated with respect and dignity.

Your rights as a member

Every SLSNT member has the right to:

  • Be treated with respect and dignity
  • Participate in a safe and inclusive environment
  • Be free from bullying, discrimination, harassment and abuse
  • Have any concern or complaint handled fairly and confidentially

When you sign your SLSA membership form each year, you agree to uphold these same standards for every other member.

How to raise a concern or complaint

If you have a concern or complaint, you do not have to handle it alone. Our Member Protection Information Officers (MPIOs) are your first point of contact. They can provide guidance on your options, help you understand the complaints process, and offer confidential support.
